1986 Horizontal

Thanks for the notes, chaps.

Everything I've read about /tasted from 1986 has really been of surprisingly high quality. I know we haven't had much luck with tastings of less popular vintages, but would there be any interest in a go at the Class of 1986?

I love the idea of a 1986 horizontal, but I think we might struggle to find enough bottles.

How about an FG vertical? I have had the 1987 and 1988, both greatly enjoyed.

We have the beginnings of an idea here. Would you mind (Chris / Ben) if I ask and admin to split these last few posts into a new thread in the organising tastings and offlines forum?

Once split, I'll post the handful of FG vintages that I have. But if we do have an FG vertical, it will have to be on a day that Julian is able to attend...

Please do split - it makes sense to do so. I may have to adopt / acquire as I have none at present.

I don't have my list with me, but from memory I have FG from 1968, 1972, 1988 and 1996.

Do I need to split this again?

I also have 1984 FG if ever we decide to put this tasting together.

And, yes please Mr Admin, another split would seem to make sense.

I've only got something fairly young...perhaps a 1998 but would be keen for this at some stage!

From experience, I can tell you that a FG vertical is a very good idea. I'm not so sure about 1986. I've tasted quite a few and most of them are decent, but nothing more (FG included). 1988 would be far more interesting.
