1963 Fonseca vintage port
Bottled by Hedges & Butler. Vibrant colour, rich red with some bricking starting to appear; 60% opaque. A tiny bit of spirit on the very rich nose, full of Christmas cake. Thick and rich impact on the palate. Gentle tannins bring a lovely pepperiness, lovely mature fruit that brings ripe melons and spicy redcurrants. Dry aftertaste, full of cherry fruit and of amazing (1-2 minutes) length. Fabulous port. 94/100. Drunk 26 September 2010.

F63, lovely red, 50% opacity. Nose bright, cherry, and perhaps floral honey. To taste pepper early palate, heat late palate. Full and rounded. Red cherries late. Very long.
Ranked first by me and AHB, second by most others, and one third place. Finishing second, not far behind the F70.
