As I mentioned earlier during the online tasting, several wine merchants are on vivino which keeps attacking me with 20% offer codes. They are generally used to hide inflated prices... sometimes it does give rise to some nice prices.
Croft Roeda 2002 (although I received 2004) for £17 a bottle (use code RIGHTWINE).

Kopke 30yo white for £36 (375ml)

You're better off with 2004 anyways.

I had the 2002 before and it was better than people let on. That being said, I am happier with the 2004.

For those in a Pennsylvania or the US East Coast, Pennsylvania's state liquor stores are running their summer clearance sale, which includes quite a few ports. The most attractive deal found was 2011 Ferreira for $50 - I picked up two bottles

I started using Wish after I found that Wish free shipping from DontPayFull, and since then, I always look for the things I have been looking for for a long time but could not find. Seriously, there you can find everything you want. I also read articles like this, in which I was offered coupons, but the problem was that I already had to buy some products, but I wasn't sure if it was worth it. But I will try this link you sent. But it already depends on what they are looking for and what they need. It seems super addictive.
Love the idea of Wish selling cheap Chinese knock off port... Got to love the spambots not knowing their audience Image

For the record, I would absolutely buy a cheap knock-off Taylor Scion if only someone would make it...

:) I said “cheap” though! (And who on :tpf: wouldn’t be interested in trying it once, were it to exist? ;-) ).

A friend of mine just sent me a link to this auction listing which includes a “1964 Ruby Port” which was apparently “matured in wood” and “bottled in 1974”. I know old colheitas were described as anything under the sun but I’ve never seen one describing itself as a “ruby” before. The terminology rather amused me!

Buy it and Glenn will take it off your hands next time he is over... you might enjoy the TTF too.

Corney & Barrow have just listed three 12bt OWCs of Churchill 97. They're currently IB, but would be £624 per case delivered - which equates to £52 a bottle. Anyone interested in splitting a case?

On the recently concluded PHT I had the opportunity to taste a 1937 Dow Vintage Port Matured in Cask.

Don't think about it too long, you'll break your brain.

There's fairly good evidence that the '37 vintage was about to be declared, when the imminent declaration of war cancelled the event. Labels like this support the notion that pipes ready and filled for shipment as VP, were suddenly left languishing in Portuguese lodges..

I've seen a number of old bottles like that where it says Vintage Port matured in wood (or similar statement). Labeling wasn't very consistent with how they called things back then is the best answer I can come up with.

Agreed. However, the label would not have been added until much later, at which point there would have been no need to call it Vintage Port at all. So while the reason for so much Colheita from 1937 existing is almost certainly the war, the reason for this particular label doesn't seem like it would have anything to do with the war at all.

You're no doubt correct, but in my experience "Reserve" or "Grand Reserve" or even "Port of the Vintage" were much more common. This was literally the first time I'd ever seen "Vintage Port" in that order used on anything other than an actual Vintage Port.

Btw, I have a couple of empties of Historical Collection I - ‘The Onion’ - if anybody wants one.

What is the Port like in the historic collection bottles? I’ve been worried that since the bottles themselves must be quite expensive then the wine might be a bit disappointing.

Have only tried the first one. Got a case of six fairly reasonably and have drunk a few. My recollection is of a better than standard tawny. Was quite nice but nothing extraordinary.

Kept the empties as it didn’t feel right to bin them.
