Just been sent a "bargain" offer by Fine+Rare...

QUINTA DO MOURÃO 130-YEAR-OLD WHITE + TAWNY PORT DUO

Case contains one bottle (50cl) each of:
Quinta do Mourão, 130-Year-Old White Port
Quinta do Mourão, 130-Year-Old Tawny Port
£4,500
2 x 50cl bottles in bond
Available for delivery summer 2022

TASTING NOTES

130-Year-Old White Port
“This 130-Year-Old White Port has a beguiling nose – layered with a full spectrum of aromatics. The richest of rancio notes intermingle with toffee, dried cigar, molasses, banoffee pie, tar, crushed walnuts, marzipan, fig… it has everything. The palate is as complex as the nose and doesn’t disappoint. The incredible dense textural viscosity is matched by an outstanding level of acidity, giving the wine pulsating energy. The wine has mouth-filling breadth and depth, with unique intensity – yet somehow it manages to remain brilliantly balanced. The wine comes across incredibly stable and given the balance has decades of drinking ahead of it.”

130-Year-Old Tawny Port
“The 130-Year-Old Tawny Port has a super dense, blackened tawny colour that stains the glass when swirled. The nose is extraordinarily rich with coffee, date, dried fig, molasses, black tar and smoked raisin aromas. The rancio notes add so much complexity and complement the dried fruit and spice character. On the palate, the wine is texturally thrilling; it is so dense that it’s nectar-like – but, as with the 130-Year-Old White Port tasted alongside, the acidity gives the wine so much energy and brings balance to this powerfully intense Tawny. Incredible.”

The original offer email is available in the unlikely event that someone needs it to place an order.

Waitrose cellar doesn't appear to include fortified wines, just table and sparkling, is that just in store?

Ah, thanks Zak. I'll have to jump on it next time - I like the look of that QdlR Waitrose VP for £30...

It's only a good deal for sandeman LBV. All other prices get bumped before the sale.

Morrisons Online seem to be selling Graham LBV for £9 and Dow Bomfin for £20. I have speculatively purchased half a dozen of the latter, let's see what actually turns up.

Dow Bomfin 2010 is what turned up. Fairly cheery about that.

Yes, that's the one that has been showing up on supermarkets over here as well, over the last couple of years (some overlap with the 2008 Bomfim).

My Sainsbury’s has Grahams 2013 Crusted reduced to £13 and their 2012 TTD VP for £15. I have tasted the Crusted and it is very good and I hope will mature well with some mid-term ageing. At £13 it is worth a purchase or six!

That's great value. I'd buy some if I could.

Great find. You can make it even better with a £15 off £60 if you're a new customer or happen to stumble upon a new email... https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/webapp/wcs ... cher-codes

I’m re-testing some, right now. And I’m not buying any — already bought a goodly quantity at £15.

However, I might have accidentally asked my wife to order some online. Which doesn’t count.

I wish I’d known that when I picked up 8 bottles @ £12 yesterday (see latest buy).

For those without Sainsburys, the Crusted 2013 it's also very cheap on Amazon. £11.70 a bottle (if you use subscribe and save then immedietly cancel).

As I already have some, yesterday evening I re-tested the G. crusted ’13. Excellent. More ordered online. Sainsbury’s decreased order size to a mere half-dozen.

Costco has the TV2013 in store at £23.98 a bottle, which seems pretty good to me (it’s slightly more expensive on-line.

I've been explicitly told to post deals I find.

If you have an American Express card, you can currently get 20 off 100 there. Doesn't seem to be any particularly great port bargains but please, go ham.

Additionally, following the great tasting we had today, if you happen to be a new laithwaites purchaser (or stumble across a new email) then I'd suggest using
NME40Q4
To get 40 off 110. Could be used towards an excellent redemption of Anderson 40YO.

Enjoy comrades.

If you are about to purchase from a shop, do pm me. I reckon I can do better.

That looks like a good price for it! I have it down as £595 for 12 bottles IB ten years ago. Thanks :)

For those of you with Amex cards, the current round of Amex offers includes £50 back if you spend £200 at Avery's or 20% back if you spend over £100 (maximum of £30) at bawineflyer.co.uk

Both appear to be sites affiliated with Laithwaites, so both feature the Andresen range of whites plus some other interesting Ports.

My first sighting of the 2017 Graham's LBV in a B&M store in NJ. $22. I bought 2 bottles of the 2011 Fonseca LBV at the same price instead.
