Extremely closed and muted on the nose. Some red berries but that was about it. In the mouth, it tasted of nothing, apart from a hit of sugar; some rounded tannins and perhaps a touch of chocolate at the very end of the after-taste.
I should note that this is almost exactly the opposite of Paul Symington's view of this wine who described it being remarkably open and elegant...

Quinta da Cavadinha produced 28% less wine this vintage than average. Ex-cellars. Deep in colour, with the colour holding in to the rim; almost opaque. Floral and herbaceous nose, little fruit - pretty closed. Sweet, fruit dominated entry with a stunning satin texture. Elegant floral perfume mixed with the huge fruit component. The tannins fade out gently and leave a lovely balance. An off-putting burn from the high acidity on swallowing and the finish is disappointingly short and sticky. A lovely wine now, which will be much improved in 10 years. 89/100.
