My 1st post and it's a question I'm hoping someone maybe able to help with.

A few years ago on a wine tasting course our teacher had some small Taylor's LBV 1997 20cl bottles. He had so many he offered some for sale and we purchased a whole bunch off him.

The port was great, easy to drink and we loved the bottle size. The 20cl was great for opening and having without having to drink a whole 75cl bottle. My father-in-law loved them for this reason and I was hoping to find something very similar as a Christmas present but I'm struggling! Help!

Does anyone know a good place online to buy port in this size bottle?

Someone here bought a very large stash of these 20cl bottles at auction about a year ago and shared the joy with a few of us. I agree they are a great size to have.

I think they are made for the travel industry. They used to have them on GNER trains and I have seen them on airlines. Unfortunately, I have never seen them for sale in any retail outlet.

If you find them please let us know!

That was my guess, too, along with being made for packaging into boxed sets for Christmas (e.g. this sort of thing) which might be of some help if you are only looking for a two or three rather than a case.

Slightly bigger but John Lewis have a Warres Otima Christmas gift set of a 25cl bottle with 2 tasting glasses hth

But I would also encourage you not to be afraid of buying 37.5cl bottles of Late Bottled Vintage port. Once you open one, either drink it up over the course of a week or keep it in the fridge and take a month or so.

It will last fine, just so long as you don't leave it somewhere warm and bright.

I am now very confused. How is it possible to drink a 37.5cl bottle "over the course of a week"?

Does this mean decanting it on Sunday and drinking it on Saturday?

AHB opens a half bottle and has a glass with Sunday lunch. He then disappears for a week of important business meetings in far-off locations, and finishes it the following weekend.

No no no no no.

If you open 14 or 15 half bottles on the same day, you can then drink them over the course of a week. Surely you can see the sense in that? You can see how each of the wines evolves over time in the decanter.

When we open a bottle of port in our house it only lasts the night usually!!
