Tasted at The Big Fortified Tasting, a trade fair in London at Glaziers Hall on Wed 06 April 2011 (Review thread, containing links to other tasting notes). This being a large trade-fair event, tasting notes generally brief.
CC09, a tiny quantity as library stock. Light and soft, JGH rightly suggesting ‟meadow” flavours. Not big, but great flavours.

Cask Sample 2 2009 VP
Extremely floral on the nose. Extraordinary sensation of cut grass; it feels like siting in a meadow. Very soft and approachable in the mouth. Fantastic now, and will be an excellent, though probably young-maturing, Port.
I would love to have a case of this. I thought it was the second-best of the Symingtons' 2009 after the Vesuvio and by far the most interesting. But, alas, it seems this will not be for sale.

500 cases made. Cask sample. Fresh violets on the nose. Sweet fruit on entry with generous levels of fruit on the palate, an acidic structure and light tannins that together add up to a medium-bodied baby port. Comes with a gentle aftertaste that leads to a long, big, black pepper finish and lots of blackcurrant skins. 87-89/100.
