Re: 1980 Taylor
Mild red colour, 80% opaque. Mature nose, bang in the midddle of the secondary phase with a lovely interplay of fruit and spice. Lovely balance on entry, lots of fruit and soft tannins - and with lots of acidity. Medium bodied, with a big palate presence. Sweet afteraste of candied cherries and nutmeg. This morphs into a dry, bitter chocolate finish of considerable length. (Vintage guessed to be 83, 83, 85; Shipper guessed to be Graham.) 88/100. Drunk after 1 hour of decanting.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Deepish purple in middle. Fading to pink at edge. Very subtle on the nose. Not giving much away. Very sweet in the mouth with a hit of sugar. Some red currants and strawberries. The sweetness, however, predominates.
