For some odd reason, this litte ditty stuck in my brain many years ago - it was originally scripted as a song, but sounds much better as a poem - particularly if you imitate the late Benny Hill when reciting it...

Come Maidens!

Come maidens and come single men,
come kinsmen and come kith
I'll speak to you of a young man,
born with a vile lithp
Born with a vile lithp wath he,
twath a blight upon hith life
Thith tale tellth of the trouble he had,
- in purthuing of a wife

The firth girlth name was Thynthia,
twath an obviouth bad choith
She conthtantly made fun of hith impendimental voith
One day thee puthed him much too far,
till he could thtand no more!
He chopped her up and buried her,
beneath the kitchen floor

Hith life wath full of mithery firtht with Thynthia then with Thue,
then Thethilia thoon followed but thee riduculed him too
They all made rotten fun of him,
and they're all beneath the floor
They stretch right from the sideboard,
over to the kitchen door

One night he met with Ronald,
twath an eathy name to thay
They spend their time together,
both at night ath well ath day...
no more to people ridicule,
they just stand around and say:

"He's got chopped women beneath the floorboards,
- but he's aways been funny that way!"
