The Colour Purple

Sorry for the old film reference :roll:

I would be interested to know how much stock others put in the colour of VP. It is one of my top 3 considerations when evluating a VP. I am a visual person and like attrative things. Which does not explain why I am friends with Conky.

The Croft 1975 that I have enjoyed this week would score 10/10 on my colour-meter. The Croft 1966 that Tom served me on Saturday would score 9/10.

Am I the only one hooked on how purple it is?

Before we deal with the specifics of your question,

I presume you've got no mirrors in your house!!!

For me, colour is not essential. Its taste, taste and taste.

I suppose after those 3, its provenance/occasion. I love an aged bottle from a famous or obscure house, with a story attached, and interesting company to drink it with. Which does not explain...

I too enjoy paying close attention to the colour of the wine / port in my glass.

Also, I believe an unusual glass design can further enhance the enjoyment. I love to sit in front of an open fire drinking wine from either a cut/etched glass and watch the colours dance, I don’t get the same enjoyment from a standard / Riedel glass.

I think glass design has been sanitised over recent years, particularly with the recent rush to own perfectly formed Riedel glasses that simply show off the glass design and do little for what’s inside.

The only purple I enjoy is Deep Purple ( album : Machine Head )
I guess , once I reach the level of Decanting & Cigar man , my outlook may change . . .

Wrong on two counts:

1. In Rock not Machine Head;

2. Port is purple so you are either mistaken or a mole.

Forgive my Ignorance , but doesn't VP begin with various shades of purple ?
