chance of a short notice trip to London

There is a slight but non-zero chance that my wife will need to fly to London in order to support the EU operations of her company. If it happens it will be on very short notice and could be as soon as this weekend. Duration of stay unknown, but likely no more than a week.

If it happens, it is nearly certain that I will accompany her. To provide moral support, help her through the jet lag, organize evening meals, and perhaps find a few touristy things to do with whatever spare time she has available. Of course. It would not be to enjoy some Port with friends in London.

Though if that were to happen by some bizarre and purely random quirk of fate, I'm sure she wouldn't mind. She might even join us for a casually-themed evening.

I will update this thread with information as I receive it.

All noted. Obviously more specific information needed.

And, of course, you know that the New Douro Tasting is on Wed 20th Feb, in the residence of the Portuguese ambassador.

This might be the perfect solution, providing SCP-DFS is not offended by NYC-style profanity.

If that event does not suit, I will happily attempt to make additional arrangements.

Either (or both!) sounds splendid, assuming a trip actually happens at the appropriate time. I'll see if I can get more information tonight, as my wife just arrived home from work.

The trip, if it occurs, will now not be before the week of the 18th. Execs are meeting today to determine the best course of action, which could still include my wife needing to fly to London.

If the week of the 18th, the New Douro tasting on the 20th sounds splendid. Does one need prior reservations to attend?

I fear that JDAW has unfairly raised your hopes regarding the New Douro Tasting. It is a trade event, which means you either have to be in the wine trade or have a personal invitation from a wine producer to attend.

I have these fancy business cards from ThePortForum.com... does that count?

If not, I bet I could get an invitation from a producer. We do know a few, after all.

Perhaps best to wait and see
(a) If you come to London, and
(b) if so, when

After that we can figure out how best to entertain you!

Looks like the trip is off. Good for my wife, bad for me. There's still a miniscule chance that it will happen, but at this point I'd be amazed if it does.

Does the NDT have a website? A google search leads, err, here.

All I found was a posting by Jancis Robinson. And numerous links to here.

It would appear not.
