1981 Warre LBV

W81 LBV, at d+20 mins. Pink-red, 25% opaque. Nose of middling weight, with strawberries and something mint-like. Taste starts just the same. The mid- and end-palates are fuller, and cherry substitutes for the mint. This is from a rubbish year, ’81, is is ‘only’ an LBV: this is impressive wine. It is not a huge best-VP-ever type port, but it did not cost anything like that price. I am very pleased.
The cork was so loose that it fell into the bottle when touched by the corkscrew.
