Newman's Eira Velha Ruby Port bottled approximately 50-55 years ago. Faint treacle on the nose; gentle mature fruit on the palate. Quite lightweight but with a very pleasant balance. Delicious finish and aftertaste and a great length. Terrific port for a ruby made to be drunk when freshly bottled. Incidentally, Joao Nicolau de Almeida mentioned that his father was the winemaker at Eira Velha during part of the period of ownership by the Newman family and might have made this wine. 91/100. Drunk 23 April 2013 with a 6 hour decant.
