Not living in the UK I don't keep up to date on the wine market scene as I do here in the States. But I'm curious what many of you think of this article by Tim Atkin.

I'm not sure that things are quite as bad as Tim makes out. While the supermarkets do have a huge amount of power and are very price focused, there is also a healthy niche market of wine lovers (as opposed to casual drinkers of wine) who are supported by a range of independent wine merchants. But much of what Tim says rings true, and the London International Wine Fair seems to have been much smaller and attracted many fewer producers than in previous years.

We are an island holding 1% of the world’s population and about 0.15% of the land area. And in 1860 we owned a quarter of the planet, and feared nobody. Not too shabby.
Starting there, the way to go was likely to be smaller.
