A sister wine to the 2004 Noon Solaire and a very interesting comparison - thanks to Carl and Rebecca for bringing them.

This is a fortified grenache with the must being partially fermented and then fortified to leave some of the initial sugar unfermented. Sweeter nose than the Solaire, showing treacle and perfume. Medium-sweet entry, soft tannins and light-weight fruit. On the late palate brown sugar and fresh raspberries start to appear. This has a lovely sweet palate presence, a delicious lingering dry finish. 85/100.

Strong menthol nose. My notes say something about "aerosolised eucalyptus", which i must google. Soft and sweet, attractive in an uncomplicated way. Seems older to me than a 2004. Very nice, though not as distinctive as the dry wine counterpart. 86.

50% opaque. Nose of prawn cocktail crisps. taste not liked by me. Started with spearmint. Then I wrote, in quotation marks, ‟aerodised eucalyptus”, without noting who I was quoting.
