2007 Warre LBV (filtered)

This is not the unfiltered but rather the plain filtered LBV.
As you'd expect it's dark, but it's not purple - I would say a deep ruby with a pink rim, about 80%.
Nose: Sweet violet, plum, cedar, a little rolling tobacco sharpness with obvious cloves and some other spices, not too jammy or cloying. Promising.
Mouth: Soft at first, quite quiet in fact, but insinuates itself around the palate very nicely, with a smooth silky texture rather than the heaviness of velvet. It's got good pepperiness, some tannins on the gums, and it has a nice dryness. Not particularly sweet. There's a long, woody note to it; hard to pin down, not obviously oak. A little thin or hollow perhaps, with a lack of body at the back of the throat? Still, a good drinker, which is good as I have several bottles of it. Probably not a keeper though, for much longer.
