Hi,

New to the forum but I would appreciate if other members could give me a bit of advice. I have 3 bottles of offley boa vista 1977 that I was given as a christening gift. I have had them for 22 years and they have been stored correctly in a cool dark place lying down and regularly turned. I have tried in the past to selll these bottles but without much success and as they are just taking up room I would really like to sell them. Does anybody have any insight as to the best way to sell these bottles and their current value?

Firstly, can you please tell us roughly where you are in the world as this will affect the advice we can give about ways of disposing with your bottles and what you might get for them?

Agreed. There was a time when this was considered to be the right thing to do. Someone then decided not to and we are still in that phase. One day there will be a different plan and people will snigger at what we do now. You can apply that sequence to almost every aspect of life.

IMO, it is of no consequence whatsoever.

Hello Original Poster.

Davy’s have the OBV77 at £65 a bottle. If selling at auction, or via a wine merchant, one normally receives about half of the retail price. So, for three bottles, about £100. Is that worth the effort?

One course of action would be to speak to a good local wine merchant, an independent rather than part of chain.

But a better alternative would be to keep them, and open them with friends (maybe just one friend if you’re both very thirsty). Have the port with steak au poivre, and then continue drinking it after.
