Old bottle of six grapes

Post by uncle tom »

Have recently acquired an old (English bottled) bottle of Graham's six grapes, which has a rather surprising label text..

[will now make my first attempt at posting photos here - expect failure..]

OK - it failed - put them on Facebook and tried to copy over the links - someone tell me how to do this [please... :( ]

Tom,

I just checked you FB page and the pictures are not there either.

To post pictures here you should do this...

1. When creating your post scroll down until you see this...

Hey presto!

Please reduce the size of the image before trying to upload it otherwise it won't work.

OK, learning curve apart, the point is this is an undated wine, seemingly a reserve ruby, but billed as vintage (and with driven cork)

[Thanks Derek]

Right way up?

Tom,

I think you get a score of 4-8 for that one - not showing great at the moment but with definite potential for improvement in the future :D

Can I see "from the wood" on the label? Perhaps six grapes (like many older ruby ports) was from a single harvest but aged in wood a little longer than VP? I'm not surprised by the driven cork, especially with it being English bottled.

Yes, but the colour and sediment are consistent with a reserve ruby
