2009 Quinta do Noval Douro DOC

Purple edge. Sharp and aggressive nose with plenty of sour fruit. Fruit led entry, but with the fruit wrapped in a restraining cage of ripe tannins and soft acidity. Lovely floralness and elegance. The sharp acidity pounces on the aftertaste, then a long tannic burst before the lingering finish. Drinking well now but with very good cellar potential. 91/100. Drunk 16 September 2013.
