1963 Morgan
1963 Morgan
To celebrate the Quinquagenary of AHB, he arranged a horizontal of 1963s in Wokingham at The Cantley House Hotel (evenings of Friday 11th and Saturday 12th October 2013) and The Walter Arms (lunch on Saturday 12th), and two evening Champagne tastings for our better halves. Sadly the venue was not able to accommodate all he would have liked to have invited. Diaries had been blocked since early 2012, and bottles had been gathered for most of a decade before that. A splendid weekend indeed.

Mg63. Dark red, 30% opaque. taste roughly acidic. Not liked. DRT’s glass started light, then acidic, which fades leaving red fruit. His glass better, but still not in good shape.

Slightly corked? Nice texture but dull and simple. Drinkable.

A rather simple wine; nice, and holding up well

1963 Morgan Vintage Port
A brown cola color. Fully mature palate with spices, nutmeg, yet fresh and lifting as well. A lice long mature finish made this a treat to taste.

light brownish clear red; fresh good nose with a slight hint of brown sugar; chewing gum and minty taste, not a lot of fruit taste left in this port; good port but needs drinking; a bit harsh on the alkohol in the finish

Attractive red, but not deeply coloured; 40% opaque. Freshly crushed raspberries on the nose; sweet and dusty on the palate. Not a lot of fruit on the palate, just dusty library books. Lots of air starts to release some heat and aromatics and makes the wine more attractive, becoming quite fragrant. A nice sweet capsicum and ground pepper on the persistent finish. Very pleasant. 90/100. Drunk 11-Oct-13. Decanted 5½ hours.
