To celebrate the Quinquagenary of AHB, he arranged a horizontal of 1963s in Wokingham at The Cantley House Hotel (evenings of Friday 11th and Saturday 12th October 2013) and The Walter Arms (lunch on Saturday 12th), and two evening Champagne tastings for our better halves. Sadly the venue was not able to accommodate all he would have liked to have invited. Diaries had been blocked since early 2012, and bottles had been gathered for most of a decade before that. A splendid weekend indeed.

Ad63. Equal-palest of session, 20% orange-orange-brown. Nose very faint slight acridity. Taste vet over the hill. Light. Late, a persistent sweetness.

Light colour - very bitter and hot.

Hot! But otherwise well constructed.

Re: 1963 Adams
browinish, bernstein colour to sauternes colour; medicinal with sweet touch nose; coughing pastilles; very nice texture, smooth balanced, short, medium to light body, port more driven by brandy and structure than fruit/taste

Another of the Adams own label ports with corks branded Quinta das Carvalhas.
Pale golden straw, 10% opaque. Very little on the nose. Gentle flavour, just some sweet icing sugar and Turkish Delight. Gently flavoursome on the palate with a bit of spicy cedar wood. Pleasant cedar aftertaste and finish of surprising length. Unexpectedly pelasant - aged, delicate and tertiary but mildly enjoyable. 82/100. Drunk 12-Oct-13. Decanted 1 hour.
