If you had only six bottles, there would be large gaps between them. That would be ugly. There should be a single row of fallen soldiers, still standing shoulder-to-shoulder, from coast to shining coast. (Port is a blend why can’t metaphors be blended?)

That might be 18 or even two dozen bottles.

Twenty-two would do it, but twenty-four would allow the row to bend around the front of the TV in an arc formation.

In my office at work I have half a dozen centred on a shelf with nothing around them. A whole row might be nice but it might be over the top, too much. I think in your case two threes on either side of the TV would be just as pleasant.

No, on the sideboard. If they were on a separate shelf above the sideboard that would obstruct the map  which, I agree, could be raised to accommodate that plan.

It might not be obvious but the spaces at either side of the TV could easily accommodate OWC's of Fonseca and Graham 1970 without obstructing the map or blocking the view of the TV. Or perhaps two Hogshead's of Colheita (with taps) would be better from a storage perspective given that the temperature in the room isn't ideal for VP?

Instead of that plain paint that you have put on your wall, could you not simply glue empty bottles to the wall? You could slowly build up your wall covering in a very environmentally sensitive manner, by reclycling glass bottles as alternatives to wallpaper or paint.

May be a bit tough on the work commute, my house is always open when you need a place to stay after she comes home, sees said wall, pauses for two seconds in disbelief, then proceeds to chase you off while simultaneously tossing lots of shoes, empty bottles, and wood planks your direction.
