Should we have a poll? Any poll? A question of this nature must be decided by the members of
Obviously you should explain your vote, thereby perhaps persuading others to vote as you did.
(The point of the thread is the mock-vehemence of the explanation.)

I strongly feel that we should NOT have a poll. Any suggestion of the planned incessant interrogation of members of

would transform its charming and clubbish atmosphere into.. well, into the same boring rubbish as the rest of the internet.
I'm sure that others will back me up on this. I'm happy to poll them to establish same.

I’m married, so I must defer to her superior wisdom, character, and general being-the-boss-ness. That was my vote.

Undemocratic rubbish. Utter rubbish as well. It isn’t by accident that Port isn’t grown in China.

You quoted selectively. I said I was happy for a poll to be taken to affirm that we didn't want polls to be taken.

It sounds as though you had a pre-poll poll to determine whether to have a poll on whether we should have polls...

Yes yes. But should we?

Only if it's a stripper pole.

Definitely not. The current situation in eastern Europe proves beyond doubt that giving people the impression that their vote actually matters is a very dangerous thing.

No! How could you even suggest such a thing? Don't you care about the planet at ALL?! Archiving of additional polls would cause further CO2 emissions due to additional hard disks being manufactured, increasing global warming and eventually causing the planet to explode. No to Polls!

Or a fireman's pole. That would be the preferred method of entering the TPF cellar. An elevator would then be needed for exit, since climbing a fireman's pole while carrying a case of 1896 Dow would risk damage to the Port.

You have persuaded me: I will change my vote.
Actually, not yet. Do people want me to change my vote?

We'll need a poll to determine that.

I think this is an abuse of the process.
And so do my generals.

Shouldn't we have a poll to decide whether to have a poll to decide?

Apologies if i have missed the point of this thread, but is this a poll to see whether a "poll" option should be provided for people to use when starting a new thread?
A poll would be quite useful for "organisation" threads where someone suggests a range of dates for a tasting and others then click the one or more dates on which they can attend. Although things work fine without that at the moment.

Voting so far has not been conclusive.

Even though “not conclusive” was not one of the choices.

That's a sloppy way to gather consensus. We're going to need a poll to determine whether or not there is sufficient agreement.

Some might think that no poll is necessary to answer this question, but I disagree. Can we have a poll to see who is correct?

Better link for PR². Which would not be an appropriate system for a decision of this type.
Yes, I know it was a deliberate wind-up. It worked.
