With AHB at the Oxford & Cambridge Club this evening.

More meaningful notes will no doubt follow. The nose was beautiful, especially in the first half hour after decanting. Full in the mouth, rich an viscous with a long lingering finish. Later it was drier, more tannic and thinner. Elegant stuff, which went very well with roast beef and zero carb roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding.

Stood up well after the Graham's Ne Oublie (1882).

Decanted for approximately 30 minutes. Deep brick red, 90% opaque. Wonderful and expressive nose, full of cedar wood that just leaps out of the glass. Mature fruit on the palate with a powerful and pleasing cedar tone. Fabulous complexity and layering and a terrific concentration. The tannins are soft and the whole wine has a lovely balance. Hugely long finish whch twists and dances all over the palate for several minutes. A really impressive wine. 96/100. Drunk 18-Jun-14. Decanted ½ hour.

Interestingly this was better soon after opening and became thinner and more acidic with more time in the decanter.
