Figueira Finest Ruby Port
18% alcohol
Bottled April 2005
Manufacturer’s recommeded price: 295 Rp (approx. £3) inc. taxes
Produce of Goa.
Poured from a bottle made of pale green glass. Closed with a screw cap that wasn’t a Stelvin but a simple screw cap. Tasting note taken over the course of 2-3 hours.
Stinky nose, smelling as though cooked and stewed; a bit medicinal.
Bitter impact in the mouth, some fruit in the mid-palate but alcohol not well integrated. Fruit is stewed and mushy, acid is bitter and burning, tannins grippy but reasonably balanced, some rancid tones.
Aftertaste is unpleasant, an alcohol burn and then bitter and mouldy oranges.
Very unpleasant, avoid if ever offered a chance to drink this. 0/0 or 60/100 â€‟ but could be a bottle that had just been stored badly…
