2011 Ch. Fourcas Dupré Listrac

This was bought for about €16 in Galeria Kaufhof in Alexanderplatz. Decanted and returned to the bottle immediately before drinking.
As I decanted the nose was powerful and immense. Beautiful velvety acidic fruit, a real bomb of intensity and depth, with some pepper, some iron and a really great warmth beneath; even though it's so young it has a hint of barnyard. Meaty; no, bloody.
In the mouth it has a fine silky entry; perhaps a little muted. The usual violets and soft red fruit give way very quickly to acid, the finish is sharp and short. Not yet balanced.
The mouth is not as fantastic as the amazing nose promised. But that's what you get for murdering babies.
All the same, not a terrible accompaniment to my late-night steak.
