2010 Gigondas Les Pallieres

Subtitled 'Terrasse du Diable'. Made by the deliciously named Kermit Lynch and some French chap, they have done a good job, a bit less charm than the 2009, a sort of sloe come plum nose with a bit of wood. Good and dark, needs plenty of decanter work in these early years, which it repays handsomely unwinding more fruit and some herbs. The palate is a pleasing combination of fruit and tannin with the alcohol (a coma inducing 14.5%) well hidden. A very pleasing glug for a winter's night and not too bad for this early autumn night blighty is currently going through. Really rather stylish, but then it should be at most of twenty quid a bottle. I'd give it 88, without thinking about it too hard.
