NV The Wine Society The Society's Claret

Bought this as one of a parcel of nine low-end and mid-range bottles, experimenting with the daily drinkers in the Wine Society range.
Wine made at Cave Bel Air in the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux. Usual Merlot / CabSauv blend.
For a light, young wine this has a deep colour: a purple core, fading to a very slightly brownish rim, but mainly pink and orange. Not a dense colour though. A very soft, pleasant nose of cedar, tobacco and leather, none of them very fierce or strong, but there nonetheless. This is good wine - the entry light, with a hint of dryness on the tongue, the mid-palate rounded out with sweet, soft fruit, hints of acid, enough tannin to give some structure. A lovely long dry finish. Great QVR - at £6.50 a bottle with free delivery I can't argue with this wine!
