NV Piccini Supertuscan

This is £5.99 from Tesco. I think it's overpriced. It has all the things you'd expect in a blend of noble grapes like CabSauv, Merlot and Sangiovese, just very, very far away, and very, very quiet. It can be pleasant, if you really work it in the glass; it even has some spice and leather. But it's just so light that I could be drinking Ribena with Golden Virginia steeped in it. For 51p I can buy
the Wine Society's Claret, much nicer all round.

I'm glad that Brunello we shared in the Rheingau aroused your interest in Italian wines. Did you try the Villa Antinori yet? That will be much better than this one here.

Yes, I drunk it in Berlin. Didn't make a note but enjoyed it very much!

Yes, I had a friend who gave me a bottle of this in a mixed half dozen to convince me you could drink well for under seven quid a bottle. An abomination, muddled, flabby, no recognisable features of anywhere. The experiment was not a success.
The Villa Antinori is nice, and if you can find his Chianti Classico it's very tasty, it started to get to twentyish quid so I lost heart.
