The first result of the evening is in!
The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old is much smoother and more refined than Glenfiddich 12 Year Old. The G12 being quite grainy and hot, the BDW12 being smooth, warming and pleasant in the finish.
You heard it here first.

The two Highland whiskies in my line-up have similar profiles and very nice they are too. Honey, honey, honey. Very sweet. Caramel too. Some citrus notes but really more sweet than anything.

Yes. Yes it is. This one is my "office" bottle that I occasionally share when a celebration is in order. I have 2 more at home, and a bottle of Green Spot which is what turned me to Irish Whiskey in the first place.
I tried to get a bottle of Yellow Spot 12-yr Old Single Pot and a bottle of Green Spot 10-yr Old Pure Pot, but my pack mule who was returning from Dublin ran out of time and couldn't make it to the Celtic Whiskey Shoppe to pick them up for me.

The turnouts are incredibly high. I mean, 97% in one region. First declaration from one of the smaller count centres may be within 45 mins.
EDIT: Oops, the figure I mis-heard was 89%; 97% was a return figure for postal votes.
So some people bothered getting postal votes and didn't use them? Huh?

But no will still win by a significant majority. Just not significant enough to stop our children having to face the same nonsense again in their lifetime.

Interesting comments on the BBC from Clackmannanshire. Expected to be one of the most likely results to go to "Yes" but looking like going "No" - result expected before 2 a.m.

I am NOT switching over from BBC and you can't make me! I'm pacing myself and have got through all four soft things. Islay and Lowlands to come. The Lowlands ('High Class Luxury', from 1990) is quite a deep orange colour. It'll be the one that seals the deal.
