2000 Les Ormes de Pez

I think this is my first venture into the Saint-Estèphe appelation.
Still a deep, fully opaque red. A slight hint of vegetables on the nose but lots of dark fruit beneath. Very thick and viscous in the mouth - extremely smooth but seems to be lacking the flavour punch that would match its fabulous texture. The finish is quite short and tannic. I would sum this up as a nice wine to drink on its own that would probably deliver more with a lump of juicy steak. But I'm not sure the style is for me.
This wine confuses me. Yes, I know, it doesn't take much.
