Drunk at the Wegeler winery in Bernkastel with Norbert Breit on 12th August 2014.

The dry wine in Wegeler's Mosel 'village wine' ('Ortswein' or Premier Cru) range, in the middle of the VDP's 'quality pyramid' between the village wines ('Gutsweine') and the Grand Crus.

Richness in the nose, with ripe fruit and creaminess. Snappy and papery in the mouth. Very dry.

I found this note in my little black book: "Before the new VDP classification this wine as labeled as "Bernkasteler Badstube Kabinett". ripe apricot, not much acidity, too much fruit, don't like it much, wouldn't buy it"
