Drunk at the Loosen winery with Ernest Loosen and Sales Manager Désirée Schröder on 13th August 2014.

Grown on red slate in various vineyards around Bernkastel. All the Loosen vineyards are 'Grand Cru' quality in the VDP's classification, so they have to 'declassify' their grapes in order to produce estate and village wines. Aged in 3000 litres 'fuders'; the majority stays on the yeast in the barrel for 12 months.

A light banana aroma, the mouth woody and upright, but not too mineral. It has a fruitiness, no dried fruits though. Definitely good! Désirée described it as a 'masculine' wine.

I found this in my little black book: "fruity, a little herbal, masculine"
