Mature red appearance, 50% opaque. Cherry spiced with mace on the very attractive nose. Smooth and so silky on the palate with soft red fruit that is sweet, but comes with a powerful acidity that offsets the sweetness and prevents it from becoming cloying. A lovely sweet spiciness that complements the fruit flavours wonderfully. A slight dustiness to the faint tannins with the whole panoply of flavours giving a delightful palate. Sweet red fruit and red licorice on the aftertaste, a flash of hot black pepper, then a fabulous long length. This is one of the great ports of the 20th century. 95/100. Drunk 25-Sep-14. Decanted 6 hours.

G48. Red, 50% opaque. Perhaps acetone on the nose? Palate of red berries, and spicy — white pepper. Lovely smooth balanced Port.
