Port production statistics

I have been trying to find some information on volumes of port produced by different houses by type of port. Does anyone know of a place this information can easily be found, other than trawling the (mostly very poor) port house websites?

I would have expected (but do not know) the IVDP to know and maintain such information; whether they publish it publically I have no idea, but might be worth a trawl through their website, or an enquiry.

I did a quick trawl of their website. A very unrewarding experience. If I could read Portuguese I might stand a better chance - when you select English as the site language, a substantial number of the menu options which were in Portuguese then cease to appear, so I suspect I am unable to see some content.

Aha! As if by magic, a "Statistics" section appears. Mr Benn would have been proud. Thank you Julian.

Where I become aware of production statistics of vintage port, I try to build in a remark on the number of cases shipped when writing my tasting notes.

But there is much hidden or lost in the mists of time, or waiting to be found in old books about port.

And also in yet-to-be-published books about port. That pesky word 'publishing' again.

Sadly the IVDP website was not much help after all.

I have one or two. What do you need?

I think there are statistics in Richard Mayson's "Port and the Douro" (in the Appendix at the end). You might have a look if you can use these. (I don't have my copy at hand right now.)

Not by house — not that I can see, at least.
