Split from this Tasting Note by DRT to increase visibility of the offer.

A large number of these have appeared in my local Tesco for about £4.80 a pop; think I'll try one tomorrow and clear the shelf on Saturday if they prove to have survived the inevitable supermarket mistreatment!

Thanks Ed, I am passing a Tesco later and shall look in.

A regular in the Wiseman household — satisfactory good-value quaffing.

Has anybody else spotted this? I will look in local Tesco branches [avoiding the thorny question of how to pluralise the possessive form] and report back. But I'd be surprised: haven't seen this in a long time. All mine are long gone.

It is possible that the remaining stock has been consolidated and sent out to a limited number of outlets, as has happened about five times with this Port.

It might be worth dropping into your local store and asking for it. When they look it up on the central stock system you can then say "can I have six cases tomorrow, please?"

Nothing to lose.

Thinks: there's a 24 hour branch nearby… Just going out to fill the car love… Not technically a lie…

I'm up in Scotland, maybe Tesco branches here have been rather slower in clearing their stock of this than down south.

A few weeks ago, I was in another branch and they seemed to be discontinuing a number of ports: they had some QdN 2007 LBV at just over 10 pounds (which were bought), and some Taylor 1985 at about 70 pounds, from 85 (which I didn't, not a great price for a supermarket stored VP), and a few unnoteworthy others.

Interesting. I wonder if anyone has any opinions about this port and how it compares with other 85s, the Graham or the Fonseca for instance?

That sounds like a fantastic debate to have, shall we hijack the thread and hash it out here? ;-)

What was the outcome of all these nocturnal visits to Tesco?

Hmmm. Haven't had a chance yet.

One bottle is better than none. But a miserable strike rate for two large branches of Tesco's (putting my neck on the line with that take on the plural possessive form).
