In 1994 Quinta do Vesuvio was still printing sequential serial numbers on their labels - each bottle therefore receiving a unique number. I have managed to record some of the numbers which have passed through my hands and thought it might be interesting to start a record here of the bottle numbers we have seen and where they are.

There were around 51,000 bottles filled in the 1994 vintage.

24660 - drunk 6 Jan 2007
24668 - drunk 8 Dec 2007
24678 - bought at Bonhams Nov 2006
24684 - bought at Bonhams Nov 2006
24694 - drunk 19 Nov 2012
26745 - bought at Bonhams Nov 2006
26880 - seen at Oddbins in 1997
26998 - seen at Oddbins in 1997
27240 - seen at Oddbins in 1997
27283 - bought at Bonhams Nov 2006
27328 - seen at Oddbins in 1997
27387 - seen at Oddbins in 1997
27428 - drunk 11 Nov 2014
28028 - at my house!
28265 - in storage at Seckfords
46137 - the 1994 bottle in the chestnut cabinet I bought, made to commemorate the 10th anniversary of production by SFE at Vesuvio

I have 24 and need to do an inventory, so will try to remember to record the serial numbers when I do.

No Glenn, I think you should avoid this at all costs as you may become the kind of person who can recollect the serial numbers of random bottles of port which you saw in a shop twenty years ago. Like Alex, who plainly needs to let go.

I own six bottles of Vesuvio 1994. The serial numbers are:

26745
26998
27283

All six were purchased together.

Alright, I give up; everybody go and check their bottles.

It was not too subtle for Owen, I was doing it deadpan, like Les Dawson.

I am sad to report that bottle 16214 has been eliminated from death row tonight.

I have 29 reg bottles and 2 Mags and will send you the list when I am back home
