The 50 most expensive wines in the world

Knowing how much some of us love lists, I found another one I wanted to share. Winesearcher keeps a list of the
most expensive wines world and Quinta do Noval Nacional just squeezes on to the list in 50th place.
That is the only port on the list, but there were some real surprises for me elsewhere.

I didn't know Riesling got that expensive.

I'm shocked at how few Bordeaux appear on the list. It must be nearly 70% Burgundy.

It is for me, given how horrible Burgundy is

Burgundy and N. Rhone at their best are better than the best of Bordeaux.

But not if you don't link the style of wine

I am in the unsurprised camp about the burgundys. I was quite surprised that any port made it into the top 50, although the Nacional is the only contender it has an inconsistent reputation which I assumed would keep it out of the list.
The lack of bordeaux is due to the huge quantities made (but where was Le Pin), which reminds me I must go on about the death of the 2014 campaign at some point.
I thought there might be more Napa boutique wines as they seem to be on the up in terms of price.
And it is good that there are a few sensitive types, like myself, who know the true worth of burgundy. Derek and Alex are such ruffians *dabs moist eye with lace hankie*

Owen and Andy seem bemused by Derek's assertion that Burgundy is for the feint hearted...
