1955 Chateau La Pointe

Deep brick-red in colour, almost opaque. Deep on the nose, rich and attractive but full of slightly dirty black cherry fruit. This has a lovely texture on the palate, smooth but then a wave of green tannins swamps the palate. Modest fruit and green tannins combine to give a flavour profile that is out of balance and distracting. The fruit does eventually win through but it requires much patience. The aftertaste is dominated by the tannins, then a big finish that lasts several minutes. This is enjoyable, mature claret. 88/100. Drunk 15-Apr-15.

1955 Château La Pointe: nose full of cherry. Palate also rich cherry, great size and structure. Despite the weak ending, lovely.
