A real treat, dinner with Axel over which he generously shared 2 bottles of port and a bottle of wine - this being the wine. Thank you Axel.
Deep red, looking to be in early stages of maturity. Deep, rich fruit on the nose; clean and ripe. Axel described a green bell-pepper note and was right; I was picking up slightly stewed, ripe bramble jelly. On the palate this was just as good as the nose - powerful, rich and very opulent with the dry tannins only showing on the late palate. Wonderfully smooth aftertaste and a very long finish. A fantastic wine to sip and savour. Served blind, I guessed this to be Musar from the early '90s, misled by the youth combined with the cinammon and nutmeg on the fruit-led palate. 94/100. Drunk 22-Apr-15.
