1977 Fonseca: Lighter in hue than I expected from this illustrious house, though still a pale-rimmed good red. In the nose plenty of floral notes., and Jeff rightly identified “cedar†. Very big in the mouth, Pepper. DifferentDave: “rich finish†. Great oily mouthfeel. Lovely. 10-10.
JL: “delicious†.

Actually not as good a showing as the F-Plan’s F77.

This is hands down THE best port I've ever had in my limited experience.

Surprisingly light clear red color with a slight browning around the rim.
nose of cedar, floral qualities, delicate red fruit, light caramel nose.
the flavor blows the palate away and completely unexpected.
licorice / all spice, chocolate flavors. Full bodied and sooo smooth. Nice toffee 30 second finish. My uncle tom score would be 10-10.
I'd put it at 97 (highest score ever in my book)
The Fonseca house for me has always defined finesse with power and the 77 reaffirms this for me. My favorite house.

g-man - you now need to try the 1963, 1966 and 1970, they are all also absolutely wonderful.
