Warre 1985 decanted at 14:15. Mid-red paler than ideal for an ’75 but otherwise in fine form. I’m feeling the tongue puckering.

I didn’t realise that you had a concept of an ideal ’75!

Yikes! The worst possible non-apostrophe typo. I meant, of course, ’85. Sackcloth and ashes!

W85: third-darkest, behind F85 (inevitably) and F66 (unsurprisingly). Nosing and tasting of perfume, and very hot. A poor showing of this generally solid wine.

ugh..

Celery, condensed milk, puke/tequila nose with some tomatoes.

Full cranberries with harsh tannic bite.

Weird blueberry finish.

82. -the nose is very offputting but the body is there.

Does that mean the same to you as it does to me? If so, it is the first time I have seen a nose described as smelling of vommit

Quite dark in colour. Odd nose with lime and stewed tomato (odd to find such a pronounced aroma of tomato in a port!). There is some young fruit on the palate, but that's completely overwhelmed by a sour, medicinal, bitter taste. Not pleasant at all, although not at all as bad as my last experience with this port, which was completely ruined by VA. 83 points.

Meaty, and a bit like a spice shop in the nose. It's very thin in the mouth, too sweet and gamy. It's clearly off, perhaps cooked? This would be the second problematic bottle of W85 we've had recently. (NS)
