1985 Dow
Mature brick red colour, 80% opaque. Bruised plums on the nose, which is complex and interesting. Surprisingly hollow on entry and with a watery texture, but this quickly recovers to deliver a tannin supported complex of mature fruit mixed with wood and spices. The aftertaste is huge, long and very lively. 92/100. Drunk 04-Apr-17.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
