2003 Quinta do Tedo

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Rose red, slightly softened colour; 80% opaque. Soft nose of slightly baked fruit - attractive. Smooth on the palate, a lovely delivery of round and ripe fruit. Very much fruit led on the palate with substantial tannins that are rounded and ripe. Delicious fruity finish, sweet blackcurrant and cracked black pepper spice. Great length, lovely drinking. 90/100. Drunk 25-Sep-14. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Td03. Mid weight. Lovely balance. Something refreshing — mint? — and behind a fruit I couldn’t name. Lots of well balanced structure and acidity. I liked.

T+0h: a little spirity on the nose, but that quickly goes away. Ripe - even overripe - fruit on the nose, an overwhelming presence of plum preserve. Some bottle stink, that I'm hoping will go away later. On the mouth the plumminess continues to dominate. Baked fruit, a bit of cinnamon, perhaps a touch of licorice?
So far I wouldn't call this great, but it is interesting. Will return to it in a few hours.
