1977 Croft

Post by jdaw1 »

Derek in Paris, chez Julian: day 2, Saturday 12th September 2009.

First we opened:We had a stroll, to see the Eiffel tower, during which we bought a 1997 Rozès, then the Frenchman arrived so Derek decided that we needed to open two more 1977s.The Frenchman left after about two hours.

Mid-translucent red, with a hint of pink. Immediately after decanting a rather odd nose, perhaps a hint of bottle stink. At D+1 the nose and taste was of oranges: Seville marmalade perhaps. But from D+2hr onwards the dominant fruit was strawberry, both in nose and mouth. At which time we both liked this a lot.
