2011 Quinta do Vale Dona Maria
Nose initially sweet, but later shows stong grapefruit acidity. Soft textured, sweet fruit with a lovely perfume component, vigorous tannins but the fruit always dominates. Fabulous aromatics on the aftertaste and a very long and powerful tannin domianted finish. A very impressive powerhouse of a port that is likely to live a long time. 94-96. Tasted over 1-4 days as part of the extended 2011 tasting.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
2026: DR Very Old White, Graham Stone Terraces 2011, Quevedo Branco 1986 b.2026
