2003 Taylor

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, with a nervous rim. Slightly more mature colour than the Fonseca 2003 shown alongside. Virtually nothing on the nose, unexpectedly empty and hollow. Nice texture on the palate but very slow to show any fruit. The individual components on the palate eventually show well with strong tannins, modest acidity and generous fruit to combine together to deliver a lovely mouthful. The aftertaste is fruit driven with the tannins giving a great length with a nice green apple freshness. A nice port, but will reward more time in the cellar. 88/100. Drunk 14-May-14
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
