1980 Sandeman

Firm red colour, mature in appearance but not losing density; 25% opaque. Dusty fruit on the nose, quite generous and enjoyable. Generous sweet fruit on entry; the mid-palate shows big acidity and surprising tannins mixed in with the mid-palate fruit. Good complexity on this lovely medium-bodied port. A lovely soft finish. This is drinking very nicely. 88/100. Drunk 23-Apr-14.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: Quinta das Carvalhas 80YO Tawny
