2009 Niepoort LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From the bottle shown in the main exhibition.

Bottled 2014. Subdued on the nose initially, but swirling released lots of fruit smells. Soft fruit on the palate at first, but then big tannins and powerful acidity come through the fruit. Despite this, the palate maintains a nice overall balance. Gentle and sweet fruit on the finish. This is a nice LBV that will reward more time in the cellar. 88/100. Drunk on 24-Apr-14 at BFT5.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
