A recently opened OWC of
Mz85 has odd markings.
The side is simple enough.

As is the end, with plain underneath.

The inside of the underneath being similar to the lid.

Many OWC's that I've seen in the Netherlands have brandings for the importer (in fact, I believe my case of Martinez 1994 has it as well). I'm not sure of course, but I wouldn't be surprised if the branding is made to identify this as a lot that was destined for the UK importer, being R. P. & C. No clue which company that could be though.

Maybe it's an open invitation to Request Pleasurer & Company when opening a OWC of martinez 85?

The ‟London” made me wonder whether they are boxed in the UK.

Other than the RP&C branding the box looks very similar to my 94 box, so I doubt that. Wouldn't it make sense that it was boxed in Gaia, where the port was bottled and from where it was shipped?

So what was done in London? I promise you that the forest of London did not supply the wood.

It’s cheating, but eventually one could read the label.
Front doesn’t help so much.

The back label, however, might contain a clue.
Presumably they are boxed by the importer.

It was sold there. It's quite common to do brandings for importers. They can do that in Gaia as well.

This is known as a shipping mark. Any crate or carton that passes a customs point, should, by convention, be marked with the puchaser's name and purchase reference - normally a purchase order or batch number.

I've seen plenty of importer stamps on OWC's in USA. Never stamped inside like that.

Never stamped inside like that
I suspect they accidentally branded too many lids, and used the leftovers as base boards..
